Meet Maureen Wanjiku, the brave stay-at-home mum whose craving for intellectual challenges led her to reinvent herself as a Governance, Risk, and Compliance Analyst.
Maureen says although computer science concepts were not foreign to her, before joining the CyberGirls Fellowship her skills were subpar. At CyberGirls, she was able to quickly learn tools and concepts she had previously found difficult to understand in University.
“The training program has been hands-on. In fact, our instructor gave us projects that involved developing information security policies and procedures, gap assessments, cybersecurity baselines, and how to create cybersecurity awareness. Through these projects, my research, analytical, and communication skills have improved”, says Maureen
Her competence lies largely in analyzing the threat landscape, assessing Cybersecurity Risk, IS & IT Audit Processes, IS Service Delivery, Information Asset Protection, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity. She is very familiar with Standards and Frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, ITSA and PCI DSS.
Maureen said, “This program was my saving grace, it pushed my boundaries and helped me realize I can do anything when I put my mind to it.”
