Sherck Kissi Sampong

Sherck Kissi Sampong learned to use computers at a young age but didn’t think she’ll pursue a career in it because African parents prefer their children to pursue traditional careers such as law or medicine. She, however, pursued her dreams and graduated as one of 19 girls in a class of 99 with a bachelor’s degree in information technology.

Although she was working at the time, Sherck took advantage of the CyberGirls Fellowship to improve her information security skills, majoring in Governance, Risk, and Compliance and graduating as our best fellow on that learning track.

Sherck has mastered the following skills while training with CyberGirls (an initiative of CyberSafe Foundation ):

1. Working with and advising clients on identifying and prioritizing security remediation tasks.

2. Creating as-needed information security policies, procedures, and other related policies.

3. Applying information security concepts and principles, as well as advising on the implementation of appropriate information security controls.

4. Through gap assessments and readiness, she can provide clients with information about relevant regulatory and best-practice information security standards such as PCI DSS, ISO 27001, and CIS.

5. Performing organization-wide security assessments for businesses. Conduct interviews, review policies and procedures, and inspect facility controls.

6. Conducting assessment findings, documentation and presentation to the relevant authority.

Sherck enjoys problem-solving, identifying process flaws and devising solutions. Leadership and management come naturally to her, and she has volunteered to lead and serve on committees. She wants to work for a reputable company in the technology, auditing, pharmaceutical, finance, or oil and gas industries.

Sherck recently moved to England and now resides in a London borough. Sherck is looking for work in England. Please leave a comment on the post to help it gain visibility and get Sherck the good information security jobs she deserves.
