“How Judy Karani in Kenya, went from being curious about cybersecurity to launching her career through the CyberGirls Fellowship.”
Judy Karani
“My #cybersecurity adventure started at my last job, where I met a friend who was crazy about the field. Their passion rubbed off on me, and soon I was signing up for every cybersecurity course I could find. That’s when my friend mentioned the CyberSafe Foundation’s program for young African women. I applied, and getting into the CyberGirls program was a game-changer.
The program challenged me, especially with complex areas like penetration testing, but I never thought about giving up. After I completed the training, CyberSafe Foundation helped me get my job by sharing my CV with my current employer.
Now, I’m a cybersecurity analyst at CyberSOC Africa, constantly learning and applying my Criminology and Security Studies degree, particularly in threat intelligence.
If you’re eyeing a career in cybersecurity, my tip is to just jump in. Use free resources, seek mentors, and if you’re in a program like CyberGirls, pour your heart into it. It’s a chance you won’t regret taking.”
CyberGirls Fellowship is Africa’s biggest cybersecurity training and mentorship program for women.
