Beloved Etete #HerCyberStory

Beloved Etete  had reached the final interview stage for three cybersecurity roles, but each time, she faced rejection.

After feeling particularly confident about one interview, she inquired unofficially and discovered that she may have faced gender discrimination on that particular one.

Transitioning from Finance to cybersecurity wasn’t easy for Beloved. Each rejection deeply hurt, yet she remained determined, continually enhancing her cybersecurity skills.

As a graduate of the CyberGirls Fellowship, we frequently recommended her to potential employers seeking talent from our pool.

She shared with me how she would dress up and sit in her home office space, visualizing her dream job.

Then one day, her persistence finally paid off. Beloved landed a role that not only fulfilled her passion but also offered a salary significantly higher than the previous opportunity she had missed out on.

By leaving her finance job to focus on cybersecurity through the CyberGirls Fellowship, she not only found work she loves but also achieved a 200% increase in her income.

Her advice to anyone facing setbacks during a career change is simple yet powerful: “Be resilient! Approach every day as if it’s the one when your big break will come. Keep pushing towards your goal.”
