“Cybersecurity wasn’t even on my radar, until one fateful scroll through Instagram changed everything. There it was, an Instagram post from CyberSafe Foundation giving opportunity for women to explore the world of cybersecurity. Little did I know, that click would change my life completely.

What motivated me to start this journey was the confidence instilled in me by CyberSafe Foundation, assuring me that I could succeed even without any prior tech knowledge.

As I enrolled in the program, the real learning began. It was intense, but I never felt alone. The program provided mentors, peer mentors, and a community of sisters encouraging and helping each other.

One of the challenges I encountered was when my personal computer broke down, leaving me without the means to continue learning. But CyberSafe didn’t hesitate to help, arranging for a laptop to be sent all the way from Lagos to Akwa Ibom State in Nigeria. This fueled my passion that if they can’t give up on me, I can’t give up on myself.

I am amazed that within just seven months, someone like me, with zero tech skills, could transform into a cybersecurity consultant. CyberSafe taught us the importance of consistency, hard work, and dedication. They made the seemingly difficult journey feel achievable.

The Hiring Summit organized by  CyberSafe Foundation  at the end of my cohort of the CyberGirls Fellowship, gave us a chance to showcase our skills to leading companies. CyberSafe also put together very helpful mock interview sessions ensuring we were well-prepared for these opportunities. It was through this event that I landed my first cyber role.

Today I’m working as a cybersecurity consultant for a top company with the help of  CyberSafe Foundation.”

CyberGirls Fellowship is Africa’s largest #cybersecurity  hashtagtraining and mentorship program for women. An initiative of  CyberSafe Foundation.
