“I had resigned to fate and accepted to continue my career as a corporate and commercial lawyer when I struggled to see how I could turn my passion for law and technology into a concrete career path. Until one sunny Sunday afternoon in November 2021, where a seemingly ordinary moment became a turning point in my life.”
“I saw a friend’s Whatsapp status about the Cybergirls 2.0 call for application by Cybersafe Foundation. Being my first time hearing about the foundation, I decided to research about the program and was inspired by the testimonials from previous cohorts. The commitment of the Cybersafe Foundation to training young African women in cybersecurity resonated deeply with me, which prompted me to apply for the program. When I was selected for the Cybergirls 2.0 cohort, I was elated.”
“The next 8 months were intense as I combined a full time job with the demands of the program. I saw myself pulling extra hours through the night just to catch up with assignments and group work. There were days when I felt frustrated, and cried, but I kept reminding myself, ‘Tosin, you have come too far to turn back now. Just endure for a little while longer, your breakthrough is in sight’. Whenever my own motivation waned, the mentorship sessions and insights from Confidence Staveley and Helen Oluyemi helped me stay focused and determined.”
