“My name is Ose Oladimeji, and this is my HerCyberStory.

Before joining the CyberGirls Fellowship, I was always curious and eager to explore various opportunities but eventually discovered my passion for cybersecurity.

Driven by a desire to be closer to the tech industry and transition into a technical role, I worked as a Talent and People Manager in a fintech company.

Despite not having a formal background in technology, my passion for cybersecurity remained undeterred, though the path ahead seemed daunting.

I applied and was successfully accepted into the CyberGirls Fellowship where i enjoyed structured learning, mentorship, and a supportive community; empowering me to pursue my goals confidently.

With a few months left until I graduate from CyberGirls, I’ve made significant strides moving from managing talent to taking on responsibilities as a cybersecurity analyst.

Through the fellowship, I have grown my technical skills and gotten a renewed sense of purpose and confidence.

Interestingly, I secured my job offer during the prerequisite stage of the CyberGirls Fellowship, where we were introduced to the fundamental concepts of cybersecurity.

Determined to excel, I dedicated myself to rigorous self-study to fully comprehend and apply the material. This early exposure gave me a strong foundation in cybersecurity, allowing me to confidently navigate complex challenges and demonstrate my abilities in real-world scenarios.

The knowledge and confidence I gained during this stage were instrumental in securing my current role. This early start, combined with my commitment to continuous learning, set the stage for my success, proving that a strong foundation can lead to significant professional opportunities even at the beginning of a program.

The CyberGirls Fellowship was instrumental in breaking down the gender limitations and myths I once believed defined the cybersecurity field. Before joining the program, I often thought of cybersecurity as a male-dominated industry, where women might struggle to find their place. However, the fellowship exposed me to a vibrant community of women excelling in cybersecurity, proving that skill and determination far outweigh demographic qualities.

This experience taught me that once you bring value to the table, gender becomes irrelevant; it’s your expertise, problem-solving abilities, and contributions that matter most.

The CyberGirls Fellowship empowered me to focus on building my capabilities, confident in the knowledge that my gender is not a barrier but rather an asset, enriching and diversifying the field of cybersecurity.”

CyberGirls Fellowship is Africa’s largest cybersecurity training and mentorship program for young women. An initiative of CyberSafe Foundation.
