From waiting tables at a pizza restaurant to landing a cybersecurity role at a retail clothing group listed on Africa’s largest stock exchange. This is the story of Kachipa Lucky Masipa, a South African CyberGirls 2.0 Alumna living in Cape Town.
Kachipa was a talent to watch from day zero. During her interview, she described how she would usually take her laptop and internet back to her village, helping girls in her community to apply to university. Kachipa is the poster child of grit, gratitude, passion, and a heart of service to society.
Kachipa lost a loved one during the fellowship, but that didn’t deter her. She leveraged the support system we created within CyberGirls, took some time to grieve, and bounced back even stronger. She graduated from the program with distinction.
When asked what she valued the most about the program asides from the technical training, Kachipa said, “My network of cyber sisters I’m inspired by, leadership, public speaking, and
time management skills. The interview workshops also helped me land a cybersecurity role”.
We’ll stay rooting for you Kachipa! We can’t say thank you enough to Georgette Mirekua Kissi, for serving as Kachipa’s mentor during the fellowship. We also thank KnowBe4 for supporting us as a sponsor and LetsDefend for partnering with us to provide hands-on blue team training for our talents.
CyberGirls is Africa’s biggest female-focused novice-to-professional, free cybersecurity training, mentorship and internship program, an initiative by CyberSafe Foundation.
